About Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation

The Department of Business and Professional Regulation is the agency charged with licensing and regulating businesses and professionals in the State of Florida, such as licensed contractors, real estate agents and pari-mutuel wagering facilities. Our mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly, and we strive to meet this goal in our day-to-day operations. The Department is under the executive branch of the Governor and is governed by Chapter 120, F.S. The Construction Industry Licensing Board is responsible for licensing and regulating the construction industry. The board meets regularly to consider applications for licensure, to review disciplinary cases, and to conduct informal hearings relating to licensure and discipline. The board engages in rule making to implement the provisions set forth in its statutes and conducts other general business, as necessary.
